Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: San Francisco, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • 12-hour day shifts at Mission Bay location
  • Must be willing and able to float to other facilities as needed

Requirements

  • Current California RN license
  • AHA BLS & PALS certifications (AHA only, no placeholders)
  • Minimum 2 years of Pediatric OR experience (higher years of experience requirement applies)
  • Experience scrubbing and circulating Ophthalmology cases
  • Previous travel assignment required (prior travel experience required)

Preferred Qualifications

  • CNOR certification
  • Experience in General Surgery, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery
  • Proficiency in laparoscopic surgery and scrubbing surgical procedures

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (AHA required for many clinical areas)
  • BLS (AHA required for all clinical positions)
  • PALS (AHA required for pediatric units)
  • NRP (required for certain pediatric and labor/delivery units)
  • CHEMO (required for Oncology and Pediatric Oncology)
  • TNCC (may be required for ER/ED)
  • EFM (required for Labor & Delivery)
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) for Psych positions
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (passing score 80%+, completed within 1 year prior to start)
  • Unit Specific Competency Exam (passing score 80%+, completed within 12 months prior to start)
  • Core Parts I, II, III (passing score 80%+, completed within 1 year prior to start)
  • Pass/Fail Telemetry and Medication Exams on first day of orientation (required for all RNs in specified units)

Licensure & Background Checks

  • Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
  • 7-year criminal background check including specific counties and nationwide checks within 30 days of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Education verification or copy of diploma/transcript acceptable

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, including physician statement of fitness to work
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (specific approved masks required; annual update)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years (declinations not accepted except medical exemptions)
  • Two negative TB tests required: one within 1 year and one within 3 months of start (PPD, QuantiFERON, or Tspot)
  • Annual TB questionnaire within 30 days of start
  • Immunity or vaccination documentation required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella
  • Standard 9-panel drug test (excluding THC) within 30 days of start, re-run every 2 years
  • Flu seasonal vaccination or facility-specific declination required during flu season (Nov-Apr)
  • COVID-19 vaccine requirements:
    • Previous COVID vaccine plus seasonal declination OR seasonal vaccine only OR approved medical or religious exemption
    • COVID19 Vaccine Booster 2 required for all travelers

Additional Requirements

  • Two supervisory references required (most recent or second most recent employment)
  • Current and updated resume including last 7 years of work history; gaps of 30+ days must be explained
  • Unit-specific skills checklist updated annually
  • Work history verification for 7 years (non-clinical roles may have different requirements)

Notes

  • Must complete facility-specific learning modules prior to starting work on the floor
  • Must review and initial facility policies including COVID-19 preparedness, parking, uniform, HIPAA, and cybersecurity training
  • Must comply with facility-specific documentation and screening processes including emergency contact information and background checks
  • Prior travel experience is explicitly required for this position

This position is ideal for experienced pediatric OR nurses with ophthalmology surgical experience who have completed prior travel assignments and hold the necessary certifications and immunizations.
