Job Opportunity: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics (RRT – NICU)
Location: Hartford, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: (3) 12-hour shifts or (4) 12-hour night shifts
- Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in specialty (NICU level 4 experience required)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Pediatric Experience: Required
- Floating: Floating within scope required
- Locals Accepted: Yes
- Charting System: EPIC
- Uniform Color: Navy Blue
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only, preferred NICU experience
- RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist)
- State License (Connecticut) – Can be pending but must be active to start
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) – Required for NICU
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – Required for ER candidates (if applicable)
Competency Requirements
- Competency Exam with 80% or higher within a year of start
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (if applicable)
- Core Part I, II, III – Must be updated annually
- OSHA Mandatory Training – Must be updated annually
- HIPAA Competency – Expires annually
Health and Background Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start, signed by NP, PA, or MD, documenting ability to work full day without restrictions
- Respiratory Fit Mask Test annually (specific acceptable masks listed)
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years of start (TD and declinations not accepted)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year, updated annually
- Immunization or positive titer proof for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or signed declination)
- Varicella
- Drug Testing: 10 Panel within 30 days of start, updated annually
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
Documentation and Verification
- Clear copy of Driver’s License or Passport
- Background Check within 30 days of start (7-year search including aliases, nationwide, statewide, sex offender, OFAC)
- Education Verification (Diploma may be used as placeholder)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- State License verification within 30 days of start (permanent CT RN license required; temporary license may be allowed with approval)
- References: Two references within past 2 years who directly supervised the candidate
- Employment Application including 7 years of employment history and explanation of gaps
- Skills Checklist updated within 1 year of start
- Work History Verification for last 7 years
Facility Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (chest up, solid background, no others in photo)
- Confidentiality Agreement, Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest, Contractor Checklist – must be signed prior to start
- Pediatric Medication Calculation Exam required for all RNs
- Flu Vaccine Exemption Forms (if applicable)
Additional Notes
- Parking available (40 for 2 weeks, 80 for 4 weeks)
- Must be able to float within scope of practice
- Navy Blue scrub color required
