  • 14 bed overflow med/surg telemetry unit for Emergency Department boarder patients
  • Flex space inside GI Endoscopy area; patient census may vary
• Shift Details:

  • Weekend coverage every other week (EOW)
  • Float required to care for med/surg patients based on census
  • Call required depending on staffing needs
• Schedule: Block scheduling may be accommodated but not guaranteed
• Locals Accepted: No (within 75 miles)
• Pending License Accepted: No
• Return to Origin (RTO) Restrictions: Minimal

Required Experience & Skills

• Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Identification: Government issued photo ID required
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year criminal background check (including felony checks) within 3 months of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter
  • Education verification from primary source required
  • Foreign equivalency evaluation if education obtained internationally
• Certifications:

  • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM as required by unit description
  • State License verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification for LPN/LVN within 30 days of start
  • NIH Stroke Certification as required
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required
  • Tech Cert Verification if applicable within 30 days of start
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • TB questionnaire in lieu of annual TB test renewal
  • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
  • Eye exam (Snellen) within 1 year
  • COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
• References: Two references within 3 years required (for Aya candidates)
• Employment Verification: At least two past employments verified
• State Specific Requirements (New York):

  • NYS Nurse Aide Registry (if applicable) within 3 months of start
  • Fingerprinting and disciplinary action search for certain units (Mental Health, Behavioral Health, Home Health Aide, LTC)
  • Sex Offender Registry search within 30 days of start
  • NY Medicaid Exclusion List check within 3 months of start and monthly thereafter

This position is suitable for LVNs/LPNs with at least 1 year of experience, comfortable working in a med/surg telemetry overflow unit with ED boarder patients, and who meet the required certifications and health compliance standards. Prior travel experience is not required, and first-time travelers are accepted.
