Job Opportunity: ER Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Augusta, Georgia
Contract Length: 12 weeks


Job Summary

  • Work in a small Emergency Room (ER) with 14 beds and a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio.
  • Patient population ranges from pediatrics to geriatrics.
  • Ambulance on site 24/7 for patient transport to higher-level care facilities.
  • No IV team; wound care provided virtually.
  • Orientation partly at a nearby main campus (3 miles away).
  • Floating to main campus possible.
  • Every other weekend work required.
  • No call requirements.
  • Holiday work expectations:
    • 1 major holiday during assignment = work that holiday
    • 2 major holidays = work both
    • 3 major holidays = work two of them
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day.
  • Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days, with blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4-12).

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience.
  • First-time travelers not accepted (prior travel experience required).

Licenses & Certifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (if required by unit)

Skills & Competencies

  • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system (required).
  • Familiarity with Pyxis, SBAR communication, and Spacelabs monitoring systems.
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required (up to 3 attempts allowed).
  • Color blind testing required.

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check completed within 30 days prior to start.
  • Education verification of nursing degree required (can be pending with proof).
  • State license verification within 30 days prior to start.
  • Annual NURSYS verification.
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (no pending results allowed).
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
    • TB questionnaire (updated annually)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer or signed declination
    • Flu vaccination or declination (required during flu season)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap highly recommended
  • Skills checklist updated within 12 months.
  • Work history verification and 2 clinical references required.

Work Environment & Additional Information

  • Scrub color: Navy blue.
  • No cafeteria on site; vending machines available for meals.
  • Full compliance with orientation and credentialing required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback.
  • Locals accepted at the same rate.
