Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Metairie, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) travel contract position. The role involves critical care nursing with a focus on cardiovascular patients and requires flexibility to float to other ICU units, Emergency Department (ED), Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), and occasionally Medical-Surgical/Progressive Care Units.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years ICU experience (CVICU experience highly preferred)
• Epic electronic health record experience required
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Work Schedule & Environment

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: Typically 1:2, sometimes 1:3
• Weekends: Required (4 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule)
• Call: Not required
• Float: Required to all ICUs, ED, PACU, and occasionally MS/PCU units
• Nurses perform lab sticks, EKGs, and line starts

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) – can be obtained onsite if not already certified
• NIH certification
• Must be able to care for COVID-19 and isolation patients (know your N95 mask size)

Required Licenses

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Louisiana
• NURSYS verification required within 30 days of start

Additional Requirements

• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• Drug screening within 30 days of start
• Immunizations and health documents including:

  • Tdap within 10 years
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray as applicable
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or titers
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella vaccinations or titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption/declination
• Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
• Competency exams (Medication/Pharmacology, Dysrhythmia/EKG, Core Parts I-III) updated annually

Other Notes

• Return to Office (RTO) limited to 5 days total
• Floating may include care for ICU patients in ED and PACU settings
• CPI Blue Card accepted; onsite completion available if needed
