Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - MS/Tele Resource Pool
Location: Spartanburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
- Start Date: February
- Patient Ratios: 1:6
- Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years preferred; candidates with 1+ year will be reviewed
- First-time Travelers: Accepted
- Weekend Requirement: As needed
- On-Call Requirement: Yes; must complete either 2 on-call shifts or 2 additional shifts every 6 weeks
- Floating: Yes; float within scope to meet facility needs, including other units within the campus
- Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (must be outside a 75-mile radius)
- Pending License: Accepted if obtained prior to start
- Attendance Policy: Missing more than two shifts per 13-week contract without reasonable explanation may result in contract cancellation
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA required, RQI acceptable
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for MS/Tele
- NIH Stroke Certification - Required for MS/Tele
- Pass/Fail Testing:
- Cardiac Arrhythmia Test and Medication Dosage Calculation Test on first day of orientation (two attempts allowed)
- Must pass on first day; shaving may be required for fit testing
- State License Verification: Primary source verification required
- NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement: Required
- Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing: Required for RNs
Preferred Certifications (Not always required)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
- STABLE (Specialized training for NICU nurses)
Testing and Competencies
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required within 1 year of start and updated annually
- Competency Exam: Required within 1 year of start and updated annually
Background and Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, including all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- South Carolina statewide search required regardless of residence
- Education verification required for highest level of education (Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or Doctorate)
- Third-party education verification required for all candidates
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
- Drug Testing: 10-panel + Oxycodone + Marijuana within 60 days of start (not required annually)
Health and Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 3 months of start (specific guidelines for positive TB history)
- Vaccinations or approved exemptions required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (vaccine series, positive titer, or declination)
- Flu vaccination or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- COVID-19 vaccination (Dose 1 and 2) required or declination form
Additional Requirements
- Must be able to pass arrhythmia and medication tests on the first day of orientation
- Photo for badge required (neck up, plain background)
- Facility-specific documents and compliance checklists required
- References: 2 references within 3 years of start required (Qualivis requirement)
- Employment application required
- Skills checklist must be updated annually
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in South Carolina
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum 2 years of Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience
- Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing experience within the last year
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
Notes
- This position is part of a Resource Float Pool; flexibility to float to other units within the campus is expected
- Candidates must include all requested time off (RTO) on initial submission; late requests will not be considered
- Candidates may be subject to an attendance policy with potential contract review for excessive missed shifts
