Job Overview

  • Schedule: Weekdays with on-call coverage
  • Guaranteed hours: 32–40 per week

Required Qualifications

  • Surgical Technologist with 2 years of experience
  • Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
  • NBSTSA
  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • Driver's License
  • CVOR Technologist experience
  • Experience scrubbing in CVPR cases including Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Carotid Endarterectomy, Coronary Artery Bypass Graft, Mitral Valve Replacement, or Pericardial Window
  • Experience in General Surgery
  • Experience in Endoscopic/Laparoscopic Surgery
  • Experience in Thoracic Surgery

Experience Notes

  • First-time travelers are accepted if they have experience scrubbing CVOR cases
  • Required surgical experience includes general, endo/laparoscopic, and thoracic cases

Schedule and Call

  • Orientation is held every other week on Monday
  • Occasional weeknight call may be required
  • Weekend call is required about 1 weekend per month, or 2 weekends in a 5-week schedule
  • Weekends are call only, with Saturday coverage and Sunday coverage until 11 p.m.
  • No floating required

  • 14 operating rooms
  • Average daily census: 25
  • Level IV trauma center
  • Major teaching hospital
  • 838 staffed beds

Additional Requirements

  • Flu vaccination or approved exemption is required during flu season
  • COVID vaccination is not required
  • Tdap vaccination is required
  • Negative TB screening is required before start
  • Drug screening is required before start
  • One reference from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse is required
  • Annual specialty skills checklist is required
  • Driver’s license and Social Security card are required
  • Physical exam and fit mask testing are required
  • Color blind testing is required
  • On-call and weekend coverage expectations should be discussed in interviews

Work Environment

  • Cases include scrub, circulate, and equipment documentation
  • Special equipment includes OR tables, yellow fin stirrups, battery-operated equipment, and positioning aids
