Certified OR Tech / Surgical Tech (CST)

Location: Saint Paul, Minnesota Employment type: Travel/Contract Contract length: 13 weeks

Role Overview

• Specialty: Ortho
• Facility type: Acute care teaching hospital, Level 3 trauma center, 317 staffed beds
• OR: 20 rooms
• Caseload: 40-50 cases per day in a busy OR, with case mix heavy in spine, orthopedics, vascular, general surgery, and robotics
• Preferred case types: Ortho and general surgery

Schedule

• Shifts: Day (5x8 hours), 6:45 to 23:15 as listed. Evening (5x8 hours), 14:45 to 3:15 as listed.
• Hours: 8 per day, 40 per week
• Weekends: Weekend call only, no scheduled weekend shifts
• On-call: About 1 weeknight of call every 2-4 weeks, and 1 weekend every 7-10 weekends
• Guaranteed hours: The client may cancel up to 3 shifts at any time without penalty or obligation to pay for cancelled time. On-call hours do not count toward guaranteed hours.
• Block schedule: Not accommodated
• RTO: Ideally no more than 5 days

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist with 2 years of experience
• Certified Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NBSTSA
• Experience working with Spine patients
• Experience working with Orthopedics patients
• Experience working with Vascular patients
• Experience working with General Surgery patients
• Experience working with Trauma patients
• Experience in an Inpatient setting
• Experience in a Teaching Hospital setting
• Experience with robotic surgery
• Experience with orthospine surgery

Additional Details

• Licensing: Pending state license accepted
• Float: Will float within scope to meet facility needs. Does not float to sister facilities.
• Candidate restrictions: Does not accept first-time travelers. Does not accept local candidates within a 100-mile radius.
• Scrubs: Provided
• Parking: Free for night shift. Day and evening parking is at additional cost, and the first day is free.
