Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery

Location: Portage, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel
Contract Length: 9 weeks
Shift: 12-hour day/night variable shifts (example shift: 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Weekend/Holiday: 2 weekends out of 4 as needed; holiday rotations required

Unit and Patient Care Information

• Unit includes 2 labor rooms and 6 postpartum beds
• Level 1 maternity and nursery care, including post-op GYN patients
• Average monthly delivery rate approximately 10 births
• Nurse-to-patient ratio follows AWHONN guidelines (e.g., 1 RN may care for 2 moms/2 babies or share couplets)
• Nurses provide care across labor, postpartum, and newborn nursery (not separate units)
• May float to Med/Surg, ER, or ICU for non-patient assignment tasks (vital signs, answering lights, patient history)
• Potential to float to other regional locations if needed
• Scrub colors flexible; provided if entering surgery

Required Qualifications

• Wisconsin RN license
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Obstetrics with Labor and Delivery experience
• At least 1 prior travel assignment required
• Certifications: BLS and Advanced NRP mandatory; AWHONN and PALS preferred
• EPIC charting experience required
• Labor and Delivery competency essential
• Critical access hospital experience highly preferred

Additional Information

• No more than 7 days of Return to Office (RTO) allowed
• No on-call or call-back requirements, but additional shifts may be available for sick calls
• Eligible for 36 hours of unbillable low census hours; on-call hours count toward this total
• Call-back pay applies with a minimum of 2 hours
• Flu and COVID vaccination required during flu season; unvaccinated travelers must wear masks at all times per policy
