Perform all unit-specific nursing responsibilities within the scope of service.
Implement procedures and theories related to OR nursing practice.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of nursing care.
Complete initial patient assessments upon admission and develop appropriate plans of care based on patient and family needs.
Implement and modify plans of care through continuous evaluation.
Ensure patient and employee safety by identifying and addressing hazards and incidents.
Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to resolve issues and provide constructive feedback.
Identify personal learning needs and pursue professional development.
Prepare the OR suite with necessary supplies, equipment, and medications.
Interview patients using two identifiers (name and birthdate).
Safely transport patients to and from the OR suite, perform timeouts at key points during surgery.
Position and prep patients for procedures using positional aides and guidelines.
Support the surgical team by responding to requests for supplies, blood, specimens, medications, dressings, etc.
Provide handoff to receiving RN in PACU or other units after surgery.
