Job Description

• Provide rehabilitative, skilled, and medically necessary treatment interventions to patients with physical functioning disorders under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
• Utilize evidence-based practice to support clinical interventions.
• Administer procedures including manual techniques, ambulation, therapeutic exercises, modalities, and use of supportive and assistive devices.
• Assess patient progress and communicate with supervising Physical Therapist to adjust treatments accordingly.
• Report treatment outcomes and provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other service providers.
• Document all required clinical and regulatory information accurately in electronic records.
• Participate in patient care conferences, utilization review meetings, rehabilitation meetings, and required trainings.
• Support and supervise students under the guidance of the Physical Therapist.
• Adhere to APTA and State practice acts, code of conduct, and ethics.
• Collaborate with supervising Physical Therapist to obtain necessary durable medical equipment (DME) or supplies.

Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of PTA experience (highest required years of experience).
• Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation settings required.
• Active PTA license in Missouri (Compact license allowed).
• Ability to work an 8-hour shift.
• Productivity expectations: 88-90% for evaluating therapists, 90-93% for assistants.
• Typical treatment times: ~1 hour for Medicare B, 30-35 minutes for Medicare A and Managed Care.
• Caseload typically ranges from 7-12 patients per day, fewer for evaluating therapists with evaluations.
• Group therapy is allowed and encouraged to help with productivity.
• Each therapist typically has a dedicated device for documentation.
