Job Opportunity: Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA)

Location: St. Charles, Missouri
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Assist physical therapists in treating patients of all ages, from newborns to end-of-life care.
• Help patients stretch and exercise specific muscle groups.
• Follow instructions from the Physical Therapist and collaborate directly with them.
• Communicate with families to recommend effective at-home care techniques.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the physical therapy area.
• Assist patients in moving from wheelchairs or walkers to therapy areas.
• Complete administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and filing paperwork.
• Teach patients techniques including balance training.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA).
• Active PTA license valid in Missouri (or compact license).
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association, active at the time of start.
• Experience in Long-Term Care (LTC) or Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) settings.

Additional Information

• Must submit resume, skills checklist (within 1 year), and 0-1 references at time of submission.
• Certifications must be current and AHA-approved.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Setting & Patient Population

• Work within a clinical team experienced in acute and chronic care.
• Provide rehabilitation services including post-stroke rehab, orthopedics, joint replacements, amputee care, neuro conditions, wound care, swallow dysfunction, cognitive therapy, pulmonary programs, balance enhancement, fall prevention, home evaluations, and family training.
• Focus on helping patients reach their highest functional potential in a Long-Term Care rehabilitation environment.
