Ophthalmic Technician (Temporary)
Location: Windsor, Vermont
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
Join an expanded eye care team providing a full range of eye care services including:
- Comprehensive eye exams
- Cataract surgery assistance
- Diabetic eye exams
- Glaucoma management
- Laser treatments
- Lens implants
- Macular degeneration care
- Ocular surface disease management
- Surgical implants
- Uveitis treatment
As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will work closely with ophthalmologists to assist during eye surgeries, maintain and set up equipment, and perform diagnostic testing such as vision measurements. Familiarity with ophthalmic pharmacology and corrective lenses is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Experience with eye exam intakes, dilation, visual fields, and OCT testing
- Experience working with the adult population
- JCAHPO (Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology) Certification (must be included with submission)
- Active American Heart Association BLS certification
- Active American Heart Association ACLS certification
- Work history and skills checklist relevant to Ophthalmology Tech (updated within the last year)
- One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years of employment
Additional Requirements
- Must have own vehicle (local public transportation is not available)
- Local residents within 50 miles are not eligible for this assignment
- Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved at the time of application; no more than 5 days of RTO will be accepted
- Strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated; call-offs must be communicated at least 1.5 hours in advance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Cerner electronic health record system
Work Environment
- Day shift
- Small community hospital setting with a 35-bed critical access facility
- Includes medical-surgical and inpatient rehabilitation units
- Access to outdoor recreation and nearby cities within a 3-hour drive
Notes
- Orientation is non-billable and lasts 8 hours
- Holiday and overtime multipliers apply
- Charge, call, and call-back duties are not applicable for this role
