Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Beaufort, South Carolina Employment Type: Travel/Contract Contract Length: 13 weeks (possible extension) Unit: 5T, 22-bed adult Med Surg Oncology unit

Schedule

• Shift: Night, 3x12 hours (19:00 to 07:00)
• Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week
• Shift dates: Weekdays, every other weekend, float, and holidays as needed
• Ratio: Med Surg 1:5-6
• Float: Travelers will float between other Med Surg and Tele floors as needed (Tele refers to Telemetry)

Requirements

• Valid RN license in South Carolina
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience of 2 years, with experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (required for Med Surg RNs)
• IV insertion skills
• Medication test/pharmacology competency exam and competency exam, required as applicable by profession, with a passing score (Angoff standard)
• Background and screening:

  • Criminal background check (SSN trace, county searches for the last 7 years, nationwide, and sex offender registry), completed within 30 days of start for new candidates
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks, completed within 30 days of start and updated at each renewal or extension
  • 10-panel drug test within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted)
  • Facility does not accept any license or background hits
• Health: Physical, TB screening or questionnaire, Tdap, measles, mumps, rubella, hepatitis B, varicella, flu, and COVID requirements, with facility declination forms available for vaccines
• Documentation: Government-issued photo ID that must be carried during service hours, two clinical references, employee health questionnaire, completed application or resume, and a performance evaluation if the candidate has completed prior agency assignments
• Residency: Cannot live within 50 miles of the facility
• Orientation: Completion of about 81 online training modules before the first shift (up to 8 hours logged for orientation)
• Nursys verification

• Prior travel experience

• Scrubs are not provided (royal blue or white).
