Assignment Overview

• Location: Newport News, Virginia
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Night (3x12 hours), 19:00 to 7:00
• Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week

Unit Details

• 54-bed Cardiovascular telemetry (CVT) unit, split into three 18-bed wings
• CVT patients are also cared for in the Overflow unit
• Local candidates are allowed

Scheduling

• Flexible scheduling preferred
• Every other weekend required, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights
• Holiday shifts may be scheduled if a holiday falls within the assignment period

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Med Surg / Telemetry experience of 1 year, completed within the last year
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification, from AHA, ARC, Military, or American Safety & Health Institute (online CPR not acceptable)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, current, from AHA, ARC, Military, or American Safety & Health Institute (online CPR not acceptable)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification, required for all inpatient RNs, updated annually regardless of certificate expiration date
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Experience with Epic

Onboarding Requirements

• Review and sign before start: confidentiality agreement, scrub colors policy, safety brochure, dress code policy, drug-free policy, and fingernail guidelines
• Review only: hand washing hygiene policy
• Badge photo submitted 5 days before start, following facility photo guidelines
