Step Down Nurse

Location

• Dayton, Ohio

Contract

• Travel/contract assignment
• 13 weeks
• 36 or 48 hours per week
• Day shift, 3x12 hours, 7:00 AM–7:30 PM

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit (1 year of experience)
• PCU - Progressive Care Unit experience within the last year
• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association
• NIHSS
• Ventilator experience
• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips
• Experience with Epic

Experience

• 1.5 years of experience required
• ICU experience does not count toward step-down/PCU experience for this role

Preferred

• Travel experience
• Level 1 or Level 2 experience

Unit Details

• Patient ratios are targeted at 1:4 and may be as high as 1:5–6
• Unit cares for patients with COPD, CHF, pneumonia, flu, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and post-COVID
• Supports trachs, vents, BiPAP, high oxygen needs, and drips
• No orally intubated patients on the unit
• Team nursing may be used during the trial period

Scheduling and Floating

• Must be available every other weekend and holiday
• First to float at the facility’s discretion
• May float to other medically appropriate units or campuses within the system
• RTO must be requested with the initial submission and is subject to manager approval

Other Notes

• Navy blue scrubs required
• Current resume/application and current Nursys report must be included with submission
