CVOR Tech Travel/Contract Position

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (6:30 AM – 4:30 PM), rotating days
  • Call Requirements:
    • Weeknight call 1-2 nights per week on average
    • Weekend call every 1-2 weekends on average
  • Case Load: 3-6 cases per day
  • Block schedule cannot be accommodated
  • Float to other service lines including General Surgery

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of CVOR Tech experience (higher requirement takes precedence)
  • Scrub experience required
  • Experience with CVOR cases including:
    • CABG, MVR, AVR, Aortic Root, Aortic Dissection
    • LVAD, Heart Transplant, Lung Transplant
    • Aortic Aneurysm Repair
  • Experience with General Surgery required
  • Level 1 Trauma experience highly preferred
  • DaVinci surgical system experience highly preferred
  • Prior travel experience required; first-time travelers not accepted

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • ACLS, PALS, NRP as applicable per unit description (AHA standards)
  • State license verification and primary source verification required prior to start
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Background check within 30 days of start and updated annually, including:
    • Criminal history (all counties lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years)
    • Sex offender registry
    • Federal and state exclusions lists (SAM, OIG)
  • State-specific registry checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required
  • Drug screen within 60 days of start and updated annually (specific panel required)

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually (3M 1860 Small/Regular or 3M 1870+)
  • Tdap vaccine within last 10 years
  • Annual PPD or equivalent TB testing, with chest x-ray if history of positive PPD
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with boosters if needed
  • Hepatitis B titer required or declination accepted
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with boosters if needed
  • Flu vaccine preferred (documentation or declination required)
  • COVID vaccine preferred; medical/religious exemptions or declinations accepted
  • Baseline eye exam (Snellen) required within 30 days of start for OR staff

Additional Requirements

  • Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility (locals not accepted)
  • Two professional references from work within the past 2 years required (one must be most recent employer if not a current traveler)
  • Annual skills checklist required

Facility Notes

  • The facility is a large acute-care teaching hospital with a high volume of complex cases
  • Orientation sessions are bi-weekly on specified dates prior to start

This position is ideal for experienced CVOR Techs with prior travel assignments who are comfortable with a demanding surgical caseload and call schedule.
