Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Float Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Job Description

• Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
• Unit: Medical-Surgical (MS) and MS Telemetry (MS/Tele) units
• Floating required across all MS and MS/Tele units within the hospital, including possible float to a nearby sister campus (~3 miles away)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: approximately 1:5-6
• Electronic Health Record system: Epic (required)
• Other systems: Pyxis, SBAR communication tool
• Scrub color: Navy Blue
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (about 6 weekends in a 13-week contract)
• Call: None
• Holiday Work: If 1 major holiday falls during assignment, expected to work it; if 2 holidays, expected to work both; if 3 holidays, expected to work 2 of them
• Return to Orientation (RTO): Maximum 7 days allowed before start; strict blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4th-12th)
• Orientation hours vary by contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Georgia
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Telemetry nursing
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system
• Prior float experience across Medical-Surgical and Telemetry units

Additional Information

• Floating to multiple units is mandatory
• Strict compliance with orientation and credentialing timelines is required; failure to comply may delay start by 2 weeks due to bi-weekly orientation scheduling
• Locals accepted at same rate
• No call responsibilities
• Dress and professional appearance policies must be reviewed and acknowledged prior to start
• Code of Conduct must be reviewed and signed before starting assignment

This position is ideal for RNs with at least 1 year of experience in medical-surgical nursing who are comfortable floating across multiple units including telemetry, and who have prior experience with Epic electronic health records. Night shift availability and flexibility to work holidays and weekends as outlined are required.
