Registered Nurse - Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit

Location: Morgantown, West Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Start Date: ASAP
Shift:

• 3x12 hour shifts, days (7a-7p), weekdays with some weekends
• Possible night shifts (3x12 hour shifts, 7p-7a), weekdays with some weekends
• Typical patient ratio 1:4, may flex to 1:5 in emergencies
• Weekend block schedules considered (Fri-Sun or Sat-Mon)

Unit & Patient Info

• Stepdown / Immediate Care Unit with patients similar to Progressive Care or Telemetry in larger facilities
• Varying patient acuity

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in West Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of Stepdown nursing experience, with Stepdown experience within the last year
• Experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing
• Proficient in telemetry monitoring
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Additional Requirements

• Limit holiday time-off requests to no more than 2 of the 4 major holidays
• Scrubs not provided; dress code includes burgundy and/or white scrubs
• EMR system used: Cerner

Documentation & Compliance Requirements

Candidates must provide the following prior to start:

• Proof of RN license verification
• Specialty-specific skills checklist (updated annually)
• Minimum 2 clinical references within the past 2 years
• Required certifications on file (no pending certifications allowed)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history and other standard screenings
• Health documents including:

  • Physical exam (initial and annual)
  • Immunizations and titers (e.g., TB, Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella)
  • Drug testing (10 panel within 30 days of start, updated annually)
  • COVID vaccine or declination
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption (required during flu season)
• Completion of facility-specific training modules and competency exams
• Completion of ReadySet (RS) health assessment surveys
• Compliance with facility’s badge photo and parking pass requirements

Notes

• Candidates must have all required certifications and documentation completed before starting; no exceptions for pending certifications
• Stroke education CEUs (8 hours annually) and NIH Stroke Certification are required for this unit
• Facility-specific learning modules and Cerner EMR training must be completed prior to orientation
• Candidate must carry government-issued photo ID during hours of service
