Job Description
- Position requires floating between units including CTICU, NICU, pulmonary, and general/ED areas.
- Must have approximately 2 years of experience preferred.
- Requires 2 supervisory references (charge nurses count as only 1 reference).
- Ohio State license required for RRTs.
- Floating is mandatory.
Required Qualifications
- Current Ohio State license for Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT).
- Approximately 2 years of respiratory specialty experience preferred.
- Two professional supervisory references required.
- Must be able to float to multiple units (CTICU, NICU, pulmonary, general/ED).
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
Certifications & Competencies
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification required.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certification required.
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for NICU.
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required.
- NBRC credential required for RRTs.
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam - Passing score required.
- Competency Exam as applicable to specialty.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked).
- Education verification of highest degree required.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting required within 60 days of start; must be updated for each new contract.
- Sex offender search and various Ohio state-specific registry checks required.
- Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start.
- Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
- Affiliating Health Record and Infection Control Policy acknowledgment required.
- Fit mask testing (N95) required within 1 year of start; annual updates required.
- Physical exam required within 1 year of start (agency standard).
- TB testing options include 2 PPDs or IGRA within 12 months; additional requirements for positive results.
- Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (declination or proof of immunity acceptable)
- Varicella
- Seasonal Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 31 - May 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted with documentation.
Additional Notes
- Legal name on all documents must match license and certifications exactly.
- Ohio driver's license holders must have an address more than 60 miles from the facility to be considered non-local.
- Fingerprinting results can pend at start; facility can complete onsite fingerprints if needed.
- Candidates with positive TB results must complete additional questionnaires.
- Fit testing documentation must be valid annually; options available for candidates with beards.
- All compliance documentation must be uploaded and verified prior to or within specified timeframes after start.
This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists comfortable with pediatric critical care and floating across multiple specialized units in a travel contract setting.
