Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - NICU

Location: Columbus, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Requires 2 supervisory or managerial professional references (Charge RN acceptable for one). Peer references are not accepted.
  • Prefers close to 2 years of experience in the specialty.
  • Floating to other units is required for most positions.
  • Ohio State license required for RRTs.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Ohio State license for Registered Respiratory Therapists (RRT).
  • Must have approximately 2 years of experience in Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics specialty.
  • 2 professional supervisory references required.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Certifications & Competencies

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification required.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification required.
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA certification required.
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Required for NICU RRTs.
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Required as applicable.
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - Required as applicable.
  • NBRC certification required for RRTs.
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam - Passing score required.
  • Competency Exam - Passing score required.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 30 days of start (7-year search including all counties lived/worked).
  • Education verification through National Student Clearinghouse or equivalent.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
  • Ohio BCI/FBI fingerprinting required within 60 days of start; must be updated for each new contract.
  • Sex offender search and various Ohio state-specific registry searches required within 30 days of start.
  • Drug screening (9-panel) within 60 days prior to start.
  • Code of Conduct and Confidentiality Agreement must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
  • Affiliating Health Record completion required.
  • Infection Control Policy review and signature required prior to start.
  • Fit Mask (N95) testing required within 1 year of start; annual updates required.
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (agency standard).
  • TB testing options accepted; not required annually unless break in assignments or specialty/unit change.
  • Immunizations required: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years), Flu vaccine (seasonal, with exemptions allowed), Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (declination or proof of immunity accepted).
  • Flu vaccine exemption requires mask-wearing during flu season.

Additional Notes

  • Legal name on all documents must match license and certifications exactly.
  • Ohio driver's license address must not be within 60 miles of the facility to avoid being considered local.
  • Fingerprinting results may pend at start; facility can complete onsite fingerprinting if needed.
  • Candidates with positive TB results must complete additional questionnaires and follow-up.
  • Fit testing documentation must be completed annually regardless of facial hair; options available for candidates with beards.
  • Floating to other units is a job requirement.
