Job Description

• Must have 2 professional references at time of application; at least one must be a manager or supervisor.
• Required certifications/licenses: BLS, NRP, and Ohio State RN License.
• Float requirement: Will float to PICU, CV PICU, stepdown, MS, and occasionally ED (rare). Also float to BPD NICU (bronchopulmonary dysplasia) with frequent trach care and heavy parent involvement.
• Must be willing to comply with facility float expectations and assignments.
• Experience requirement: Minimum 2 years total Level III/IV NICU experience, including at least 1 year of Level IV NICU experience.
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Ohio (Ohio State RN License)
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Minimum 1 year of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Two professional references required, including at least one manager or supervisor

Additional Information

• Background checks, drug screening, and various state-specific and federal verifications are required within specified timeframes.
• Fingerprinting (OH BCI/FBI) required within 60 days of start.
• Education verification and licensure verification required.
• Annual competencies and certifications such as ACLS, PALS, TNCC, ENPC may be required depending on unit.
• Fit testing for N95 masks required within 1 year of start and updated annually.
• Immunizations and health documents required, including:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine (required during flu season unless approved exemption)
  • TB testing or questionnaire as applicable
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or declination
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity documentation
• Candidates must complete facility-specific documents such as Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Infection Control Policy, and others prior to start.
• Float assignments may include multiple specialty areas and campuses.

Interview Process

• Two-part interview:

  1. Initial screening with Float Pool Leader within 24-48 hours of submission.
  2. Second interview with NICU unit manager based on initial feedback and resume review.

Summary

This is a travel Registered Nurse position in the NICU requiring strong neonatal critical care experience, flexibility to float across multiple pediatric intensive care and stepdown units, and compliance with comprehensive credentialing and health requirements. The role demands at least 2 years of NICU experience (including 1 year at Level IV), current Ohio RN licensure, and certifications in BLS and NRP.
