Job Opportunity: IMC Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Madison, Wisconsin
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in Intermediate Care (IMC) Acute Med/Progressive Care and IMC Thoracic units.
  • Shift: Evening/Night, 12-hour shifts (7:00 pm - 7:30 am), Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays required.
  • Patient population includes IMC and general care patients.
  • ICU or IMC and surgical post-op experience required. If ICU experience, must be willing to work with IMC or general care patients.
  • Thoracic experience preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Wisconsin.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Minimum of 1 year of Intermediate Care (IMC) experience, with IMC experience within the last year.
  • ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience required.
  • Experience in an inpatient setting.
  • Surgical post-op experience.
  • Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Successful completion of the UWH Adult Annual Telemetry Test.

Certifications & Testing Requirements

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and BLS (Basic Life Support) by AHA.
  • Telemetry Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required before start and annually.
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement.
  • Medication/Pharmacology Competency Exam as applicable.
  • State License primary source verification within 30 days of start and upon expiration.
  • NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start.

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • Background check within 90 days prior to start, including SSN trace, county, nationwide, and sex offender searches.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire and monitored monthly.
  • Education verification as applicable.
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Screening within 90 days of start (state mandated).
  • Drug screening per standard clinical requirements.

Health & Immunization Requirements

  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility guidelines.
  • TB Questionnaire annually and if history of positive TB test.
  • Proof of immunizations or immunity for:
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) – 2 doses or positive titers.
    • Varicella – 2 doses or positive titer.
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form if declining.
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof.
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season).
    • Meningococcal vaccine or declination if working in specific departments.

Additional Requirements

  • Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except for religious/medical reasons).
  • Completion of facility-specific communicable disease and exemption forms as applicable.
  • References: 2 clinical references within the last 3 years (agency standard).
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required.
