Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Chicago, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM (No block scheduling)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (2 weekends per month)
  • Call Requirements: None
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Float Requirement: Mandatory float within scope to meet facility needs
  • Time Off (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no time off allowed on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, locals preferred (must live within 75 miles)
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Facility Level: Level 1 Trauma Center

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Illinois
  • Minimum 2 years of recent ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

  • Must be able to float as needed within the facility
  • Must comply with all facility-specific rules and documentation requirements

Health & Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
  • Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, required annually
  • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination (declination must be within 12 months)
  • Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually (PPD not accepted after 12/15/2025)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with booster if low titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if low titer
  • Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)

Background & Documentation

  • Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • Completion of facility-specific forms and competency exams as required
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required for starts on/after 4/14/24
  • Color blind testing required for starts on/after 1/16/24
  • Competency exam required for starts on/after 4/14/24
