Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (ER) - Travel/Contract
Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Emergency Department (ED) nursing role
- Facility may call off up to 3 times per contract
- Must be willing to float as needed at manager’s discretion based on skillset
- Locals within a 50-mile radius or specific counties in NY are not accepted for this travel role
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of current ED experience preferred
- Licenses/Certifications:
- New York RN license in hand
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Must pass hospital proctored rhythm identification test with >80% accuracy overall and 100% on critical rhythms
- Skills:
- EPIC charting experience
- Omnicell medication system
- Telemetry monitoring
- Additional Preferred Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- Triage experience
- Level 1 trauma experience
Testing & Competencies
- Must successfully pass an advanced EKG/ECG test within 72 hours of signing contract:
- 90% minimum passing score on online exam
- 100% accuracy on lethal rhythms
- Up to 3 attempts allowed with remediation if needed
Health & Safety Requirements
- Flu vaccine required by November 1 (or approved medical/religious exemption submitted 2 weeks prior to start)
- Negative 2-step PPD or Quantiferon Gold test within 1 year of start (T-spot tests not accepted)
- Negative chest X-ray if past positive PPD, dated within 1 year of employment
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (onsite physical required)
- Fit test for N95 mask (3M 1870 quantitative test required)
- Color blindness test (Ishihara) required prior to start
- Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training (New York State requirement for all RNs)
Additional Information
- Must provide a government-issued photo ID
- Passport-style photo required for badge
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG must be completed annually
- Must complete virtual general orientation and clinical testing modules prior to start
- References: 2 professional references required for travel or acute care roles
Notes
- Minimal return-to-work time (RTO) is 7 days or less
- Flu season runs from December 5 through the end of the declared flu season by NYS DOH
- Local residence restrictions apply to specific counties in New York (travelers must reside outside these areas)
This position is ideal for experienced Emergency Department RNs who meet the certification and testing requirements and are willing to travel outside the local area.

Nursing staff is very welcoming and supportive. There are massage chairs that staff can use on breaks (when you can get a break)
Cons
Hospitalist providers are condescending and getting them to respond to needs and assess pts being held in ED is difficult.
