Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Coral Springs, Florida
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Description

• ICU RN position for primary trauma and stroke unit
• Work schedule: Days, every other week (EOW)
• Float and holiday shifts as needed
• Patient ratio: 2:1 or 1:1
• Must have Epic electronic health record experience

Required Experience

• Minimum 3 years recent critical care experience with acute and chronically ill patients
• Experience in trauma and neuro ICU settings
• Preferred: Charge RN experience and Neuro ICU experience

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Florida
• Minimum 3 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
• Trauma experience
• Neurology experience
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Certifications & Competencies

• ACLS and BLS certifications valid and not expiring within 30 days of start date
• NIH Stroke Certification valid and current
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam required
• Annual skills checklist and competency exams as applicable
• Additional facility-required modules including but not limited to:

  • Privacy Policy
  • Recognizing Impairment in the Workplace
  • Clinical Reference Guides
  • Stroke and Stroke Core Measures Review
  • Safe Injection Practices
  • Blood Administration & Anticoagulant Therapy
  • PPE Donning and Doffing for COVID-19
  • Other nursing-specific modules as required

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 6 months of start, signed by DO, MD, NP, APRN, or PA
• Negative QuantiFERON TB test within 6 months (no TSPOT or PPD accepted) or chest X-ray if prior positive
• Annual fit mask test with approved masks (3M 1860 Regular or Small)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (instant tests not accepted)
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Hepatitis B series or declination
  • Varicella vaccination or immunity
  • Annual flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• Annual TB questionnaire

Additional Requirements

• Must provide 2 professional references from within the last 2 years
• Background check within 6 months including aliases, SSN trace, nationwide and county checks
• Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start
• Badge photo meeting facility specifications required

Prior Travel Experience

• No explicit prior travel experience required

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs with strong critical care skills, trauma and neuro experience, and familiarity with Epic systems, seeking a travel contract in Florida.
