Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Endoscopy
Location: Chicago, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: RN Endoscopy
- Shift: 4x10 hour shifts, 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM, Monday to Friday with one day off
- Scheduling: No block scheduling
- Call Requirements: None
- Weekend Requirement: None
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 5 days off with no more than 2 consecutive days; no holiday RTO; no RTO the day before or after a holiday; no RTO on weekends
- Floating: Mandatory float facility; all clinicians must float within their scope as needed
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
Experience & Skills Required
- Minimum 3+ years perioperative/endoscopy experience
- Experience administering and recovering patients from moderate sedation
- Experience in both Recovery and Pre-Op admission areas
- Skilled at inserting peripheral IVs
Certifications Required
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
Additional Requirements
- Must live within 75 miles of the facility (locals preferred)
- Pending licenses are not accepted

Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- Background check within 12 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- International background check if applicable (lived/worked internationally in past 7 years)
Certifications
- ACLS and BLS must be AHA certified
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP, CHEMO) but not for this position specifically
Health Documents
- Physical exam within 12 months, signed by PA, NP, DO, or MD
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent) within 1 year, updated annually
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or signed declination within 12 months
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSPOT) within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer with booster if low titer
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination within 1 year
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer with booster if low titer
- Negative 9-panel drug screen within 90 days of start, updated annually
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 1)
Competency Exams
- Medication test/pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months of start
- Color blind testing required for starts on/after 1/16/24
- General competency exam required within 12 months of start
Facility Specific Documents
- Various HIS forms and rules of behavior must be completed prior to start (specific to role)
Notes
- References: 2 references within 2 years preferred but not mandatory to start
- Complete application and skills checklist required annually
This position is ideal for experienced perioperative/endoscopy RNs who are comfortable with moderate sedation, IV insertion, and working in a Level 1 Trauma Center environment with mandatory floating responsibilities. Local candidates within commuting distance are preferred.
