Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Escondido, California
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Nights (3x12 hour shifts)

Job Description

  • Labor RN's float to Postpartum (PP) unit.
  • RN's may float to Poway Campus.
  • Cerner EMR charting system used.
  • No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required).
  • BSN required.
  • Minimum 2+ years of directly related RN experience in Labor and Delivery, OB Circulating, and OB PACU.

Required Certifications

  • Current California RN license
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring Certification (must be Intermediate or Advanced)
  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, OB Circulating, and OB PACU.
  • Prior travel experience is required (no first-time travelers).

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • I9 verification
  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID with address
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, national criminal, sex offender, FACIS Level 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification
  • Badge photo with white background (head and shoulders, no selfies)
  • Online orientation completion prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP, confirming good health and free of communicable diseases
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start (annual renewal required for direct hires)
  • Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start
  • Flu vaccination or declination form required prior to start (for flu season Oct 31 - Mar 31)
  • TB screening (2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot within 1 year, updated annually) or chest X-ray if past positive
  • Required immunizations or titers: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer; declinations accepted where noted)
  • COVID vaccination preferred; declination accepted with facility-specific form
  • References: 2 required within 3 years from manager, supervisor, or charge RN
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required

Additional Notes

  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required for Psych/Behavioral health and ER positions (not specified here).
  • Medication and unit specialty competency exams required with an 80% pass rate, to be completed within 12 months of start.
  • Pass/fail arrhythmia exam may be required depending on unit.
  • Compliance with HIPAA and facility safety policies mandatory.

This position is ideal for experienced Labor and Delivery RNs with prior travel contract experience who hold the required certifications and are comfortable working night shifts in a fast-paced hospital environment.
