Job Opportunity: Cardiac Tele Registered Nurse
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Work Environment
- Heart & Vascular Unit (7HVU), 49-bed specialty medical/surgical unit
- Fast-paced cardiovascular care including stable heart and lung transplants, and Ventricular Assist Devices (LVADs)
- Sister unit to Cardiac Progressive Care Unit
- Patient ratios: 1:5 (days), 1:6 (nights), occasionally 1:7 nights (rare)
- Frequent floating required to various units within the hospital system, including Bellevue campus and multiple specialty floors
- 100% nicotine-free facility
Schedule & Shifts
- 36 or 48-hour shift options available
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts out of 8 possible in a 4-week period
- Weekend days: Saturday and Sunday
- Weekend nights: Friday night and Saturday night
- Up to two weeks of RTO (request time off) permitted, with restrictions
- Holiday requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
Experience & Requirements
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Telemetry
- Required Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a large, urban hospital setting
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required, but first-time travelers generally not accepted unless they have 2 years experience at a Level I Academic Medical Center
- Must be willing and able to float frequently within scope of practice
- EPIC charting experience required
- Drip medication administration required on all floors
Certifications & Licenses
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - Required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required
- NIH Stroke Certification - Preferred/As applicable
- Other certifications such as PALS, NRP may be required as applicable
- Valid RN license required; pending licenses accepted but must be in hand before start (booking six weeks out if not)
- Primary source verification and NURSYS verification required prior to start
Additional Requirements & Information
- Must be more than 100 miles from facility (locals not accepted)
- Mandatory scrubs: Steele gray with facility logo (provided after confirmation)
- Parking available with permit or daily rates
- Background check, drug screening, and various health documents required (including immunizations, TB testing, physical exam, fit mask test)
- Flu vaccine preferred but not mandatory; documentation or declination required
- COVID vaccine preferred; exemptions accepted
- References: 2 work references from past 2 years required
- Annual skills checklist and orientation safety manual acknowledgment required
