Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Rehab (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse with experience in rehabilitation nursing to support patient care in general rehab, stroke rehab, spinal cord rehab, and brain injury rehab.


Requirements

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Rehab)
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years required
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not a first-time traveler; prior travel experience required
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
    • Epic experience required
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • Work Schedule:
    • Weekend shifts required
    • Float requirement applies
    • No call required
  • Scrubs: Royal Blue

  • General Rehabilitation
  • Stroke Rehabilitation
  • Spinal Cord Rehabilitation
  • Brain Injury Rehabilitation

Important Notes

  • Facility requires coverage through Mardi Gras (Feb 13 - Feb 22); minimize time-off requests during this period.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
  • I9 and E-Verify compliance
  • Drug screening within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam (within 12 months)
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (recent)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or titers
    • Hepatitis B series or declination
    • Varicella vaccinations or titer
    • Seasonal flu vaccination (required Oct 1 – March 31)
  • Employment application with 7 years of work history, no gaps over 30 days
  • Competency exams and annual updates (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, core competencies)
  • Facility-specific policies including employee appearance and flu declination forms

Additional Certifications (may be required depending on unit)

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • NIH Stroke Certification
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) Blue Card (may be required onsite)

This position is ideal for experienced rehab nurses with prior travel assignments and proficiency in Epic systems, ready to work in a dynamic rehab environment with a 1:5 patient ratio and weekend/float responsibilities.
