Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Telemetry)
  • First-timers: Accepted
  • License: Active Registered Nurse license in Connecticut required prior to start
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • Competencies:
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 85%)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry and related units)
    • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates starting on/after 8/2/2024, must score 80%)

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification required, including foreign equivalency for internationally educated RNs
  • Employment application with 7-year work history, no gaps greater than 90 days
  • Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
  • Attestation of prior radiation exposure required if applicable to certain units

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Immunizations/vaccinations:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (highly preferred for certain specialties)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines required
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, vaccine series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history required
  • 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
  • COVID vaccination preferred
