Job Opportunity: Sonographer

Location: Columbia, Missouri
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Department offers 4x10 or 5x8 shifts (to be discussed during interview)
  • Requires working rotating shifts, holidays, weekends, and inclement weather
  • Must be able to ambulate, reach, and move objects over 20 lbs
  • Exposure to patients with contagious illnesses
  • Must be able to:
    1. Work at assigned location for full contract term
    2. Work substantial portion of assigned shifts
    3. Take call
    4. Work assigned weekends
    5. Work at least 50% of holidays during contract

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of specialty experience
  • Prior travel experience required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Missouri state license for Sonographer
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC Provider card)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification may be required depending on patient population (check with recruiter)
  • Other certifications may be required depending on specialty area (verify with recruiter)

Physical & Work Environment Requirements

  • Active role requiring physical stamina
  • Ability to work in a 24/7 healthcare facility environment
  • Must comply with infection control and safety protocols

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and international checks if applicable
  • Drug screening (7-panel negative within 60 days)
  • Immunizations and health screenings including:
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (annual updates required)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination within 10 years or approved exemption
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (MMR) immunity or vaccination
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or approved exemption
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year (not required for Sonographer)
  • Professional references (2 within last 2 years)
  • Resume with 7 years employment history, no gaps over 30 days
  • Photo for badge (new candidates only)
  • Completion of facility-specific forms and agreements within 60 days of start

Additional Notes

  • Must be able to complete all credentialing and compliance requirements prior to start
  • Facility requires timely submission of all documentation and verifications
  • Orientation and competency exams may be required depending on specialty and facility policies

This position is ideal for Sonographers with at least 2 years of experience who have prior travel contract experience and are comfortable working flexible shifts in a busy healthcare environment.
