Job Opportunity: Certified Surgical First Assistant (Travel/Contract)

Location: Paducah, Kentucky
Specialty: Surgical Services (Vascular/Endovascular focus)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Must be a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) and Certified First Assistant (CFA).
• Strong vascular/endovascular experience required, specifically CFA.
• Formal CST education is mandatory; on-the-job training is not accepted.
• Must provide a technical diploma from CST training for compliance (no exceptions).
• Vascular team schedule: Monday - Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM, with call one night per week and every 3rd weekend.
• Scrub experience in General Surgery, ENT, Dental, GYN, Urology, Plastics, Neuro, Ortho/Spine, Orthopedics, Vascular, and DaVinci Robotics.
• Epic experience preferred.
• Scrub supplies provided.

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in the specialty.
• First-time travelers are accepted.
• Prior travel experience is NOT required.

Certifications & Licenses Required

• CST certification (formal education diploma required).
• CFA certification.
• BLS (Basic Life Support).
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) as applicable.
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (e.g., PALS, NRP, NIH Stroke Certification).
• State license verification as applicable (CSFA working under RN supervision do not require KY SFA license but must have CSFA and CST certifications).

Compliance & Background Checks

• 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years.
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
• Education verification required; diploma or transcript acceptable if verification is unavailable.
• KY State Abuse Registry check required for Home Health specialties (not applicable here).

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start (not required by facility but required by agency standards).
• Fit mask test required annually; religious exemption accepted with proper documentation.
• Immunizations/vaccinations required:

  • Tdap within 10 years (declination acceptable for non-clinical).
  • 2 MMR vaccines or IgG titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella (declinations NOT acceptable).
  • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer, series, or declination.
  • 2 Varicella vaccines or IgG titer (declinations NOT acceptable).
• Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start.
• Seasonal flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
• COVID-19 vaccination or medical/religious exemption required with facility-specific form.

Additional Requirements

• 2 professional references required (1 for non-clinical).
• Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually (not required for non-clinical).
• Employment application required.
• Competency exams and color blindness testing required prior to start.
• Badge photo required (headshot with solid light background).

Schedule

• Monday to Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM
• Call one night per week and every 3rd weekend

This position is ideal for CST/CFA professionals with strong vascular/endovascular experience looking for a travel contract in Kentucky. First-time travelers are welcome.
