Job Opportunity: Laboratory Specialist (MLS) - Travel/Contract

Location: Aberdeen, Maryland
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks)
Shift: Nights, Monday through Friday, 5x8 hours (19:00 - 23:30)
Weekends: Not required
Holidays: Required as scheduled
Floating: Not required
On-call: Scheduled on-call not required

Experience Requirements

• Specialty: Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS)
• Years of Experience Required: 2 years
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-time travelers accepted)

Licenses & Certifications Required

• ASCP certification (required)
• BLS (preferred)

Key Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• I9 or Attestation
• Government Issued Photo ID
• E-Verify or Attestation
• Background Check (7-year criminal search within 30 days of start, updated annually)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM check within 30 days of start
• HHS/OIG check within 30 days of start
• Education Verification for highest level of education
• Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start

Health & Safety Requirements

• Physical Exam within 1 year of start (including Latex Screen)
• Fit Mask Test within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (required for certain units)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (updated annually)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella (positive titer or vaccination proof)
  • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted)
• Drug Testing: Negative 9 Panel Drug Screen within 30 days prior to start (instant tests not accepted)
• Flu Vaccine or Medical/Religious exemption required during flu season (10/6-3/31)
• COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation collected for tracking

Competency & Training Requirements

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (as applicable)
• Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates)
• Competency Exams relevant to profession/specialty (must score 80% or higher)
• Age Specific Competency Exam (required for all, including CNAs)
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (not required for MLS/MLS, but required for some other units)

Facility Specific Requirements

• Confidentiality Agreement signed prior to start
• Facility-specific job description signed prior to start
• Badge Application and Passport-style photo required
• OSHA Questionnaire required for all candidates
• Portfolio Training Test Out Form (time sensitive, for Epic training exemption if eligible)

References & Employment History

• Two supervisory references within 1 year of start (Charge RNs, Supervisors, or Managers acceptable)
• Employment application/resume completed within 30 days of start
• Verification of previous 5 years of employment history (attestation accepted if necessary)

This position offers a structured night shift schedule with no weekend work, suitable for MLS professionals with at least 2 years of experience and ASCP certification. First-time travel healthcare workers are welcome to apply.
