Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse
- Location: Dothan, Alabama
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Unit: Urology Unit
- Patient Ratio: 1:6 or 1:7
- Shift Options: 36 or 48 hours shifts available
- Orientation: Every other Monday; contracts end on Tuesday pay period
- Block Booking: Available except on holidays; every other week required
- Travel Experience: New travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
Experience Requirements
- Years of Experience: 2 years (must be strong with high acuity)
- Skills: Proficient with insulin and heparin drips, comfortable with high acuity patients and specified patient ratios
- Preferred: Experience with peritoneal dialysis is a plus but not required
Licensure & Certifications
- License: Active and in good standing Alabama RN license or compact license
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (must be current and updated annually)
- Additional Certifications: ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC may be required based on facility standards
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Must comply with a 90-mile radius rule (candidate must live at least 90 miles from facility)
- Must provide:
- Valid Driver’s License/State ID matching RN license name
- Social Security Card or last four digits of SSN
- I-9 form attesting work eligibility
- E-Verify attestation and results
- 7-year criminal background check (including SS trace, counties, nationwide, sex offender, education verification)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification (official transcript or clearinghouse verification)
- NURSYS verification for licensure
- Shirley’s Law APS Clearance Form and results (time sensitive, must be completed prior to orientation)
- Facility-specific modules completed before orientation
- Photo for badge (passport-style, no nose ring, submitted within 72 hours of signing)
- Physical exam updated annually
- Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start (specific approved masks only)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- TB questionnaire
- Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (with booster or declination if low titer)
- Drug testing: 10-panel within 90 days of start, updated annually (instant/rapid tests not accepted)
- Flu vaccination required unless religious or medical exemption documented (mask required if exempt)
- COVID vaccination required unless religious or medical exemption documented
Additional Requirements
- Must be comfortable with high acuity patients and specified patient ratios
- Must complete all required competency exams and core exams (Core Exams I-III preferred)
- Must complete orientation safety manual acknowledgement
- Must submit all compliance documents at least 1 week prior to start date
- Facility requires exact name match on all documents (license, ID, social security card)
- Flu shot documentation must be current for placements starting on or after September 15; failure to comply will result in removal from floor
- COVID vaccine is voluntary but documentation is required unless exemption is documented
This position is ideal for RNs with strong high-acuity skills, comfortable managing complex patients on a Urology unit with 1:6 or 1:7 ratios, and who meet all licensure and compliance requirements. New travel nurses are welcome to apply.
