Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job in California (Orange)

Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse
  • Location: Orange, California
  • Shift: Day shift, Tuesday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM (4 days/week, 10-hour shifts)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California
  • Minimum 2 years of Radiology experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience or knowledge in Nuclear Medicine
  • Charge nurse experience

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Criminal background check within 1 year, updated annually (includes statewide, nationwide, sex offender, SS trace, federal, and 7-year search)
  • Proof of education and licensure as applicable
  • Signed HIPAA acknowledgment
  • Continuing Education Units (CEUs) within the last 24 months (minimum 1 contact hour, excluding BLS)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
  • Unit-specific competency exams including infection control/bloodborne pathogens (passing score 80%+)
  • Arrhythmia Recognition Assessment (EKG exam) required for certain units (MS/Tele, Tele, Step Down, ER, ICU, IR, PACU) with 80% passing score
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card if required by unit
  • Signed facility-specific job description prior to start
  • Signed confidentiality agreement within 72 hours of signing offer
  • Signed acknowledgment of traveler policies including Joint Commission readiness, patient safety goals, and workplace violence prevention
  • Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
  • N95 mask fit testing within 1 year, renewed annually (PAPR documentation accepted if N95 fit test failed)
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: positive titer or 2 vaccines after age 1 (boosters required if negative/equivocal)
    • Hepatitis B series or declination (titer not accepted)
    • Hepatitis C titer strongly preferred; declination accepted with reason
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap or Pertussis titer showing immunity
    • Seasonal flu vaccine required by December 5th or signed declination (masking required if declined)
  • 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (instant drug screen acceptable)
  • Two professional references within 1 year from leadership roles (e.g., Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse)
  • Annual performance evaluation if employed for 1 year or more with the agency

  • Candidates must complete orientation modules onsite or at home after start.
  • Certain assessments and trainings will be completed onsite after start.
  • Universal masking policy applies for candidates not fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and without current flu vaccination.
  • Badge and facility-specific agreements required prior to orientation.
  • Some documents and acknowledgments are time-sensitive and must be completed within specified timeframes to avoid delays in start date.
