Critical Care Registered Nurse

Overview

  • Location: San Luis Obispo, California
  • Employment type: Travel/Contract
  • Contract length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Night shift, 3x12s or 4x12s, 19:00–07:30
  • Schedule notes: Rotating shifts; no blocked schedules
  • Unit: Medical ICU / Trauma ICU / Neuro ICU
  • Call: Rare

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in California
  • BLS - Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIHSS
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • CCU - Coronary Care (1 year of experience)
  • CCU - Coronary Care experience within the last year
  • Neuro ICU experience
  • TNCC certification, required by start date
  • Passing completion of a Critical Care Nursing course
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent

Additional Requirements

  • 2 clinical references verified within 1 year of start
  • Complete application/resume with 7-year work history, including locations and gaps
  • Unit-specific skills checklist
  • Current picture identification
  • Background check within 30 days of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM screening within 30 days of start
  • HHS/OIG screening within 30 days of start
  • Physical exam within 90 days of start
  • Drug test within 30 days before start
  • Negative TB or chest X-ray documentation
  • Tdap vaccination within 10 years or positive titer
  • Seasonal COVID-19 booster or facility-specific declination form, as applicable
  • Flu vaccine, declination, or exemption documentation during flu season, as applicable
  • Measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B immunity documentation or accepted alternatives
  • Color blind testing
  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam
  • Competency exam
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam
  • Conscious sedation competency exam
  • Fit testing for an approved mask
  • Signed waiver of benefits, confidentiality agreement, assignment of intellectual property rights, and contractor compliance education form before start
  • Vaccination compliance is required as a condition of employment, with medical and religious exemptions allowed where applicable

Notes

  • Candidates without TNCC may be considered if they obtain it before the set start date.
  • The role involves critical care nursing for patients with multi-system failure, ventilation, neuro/trauma, respiratory failure, and hemodynamic monitoring.
