Shift Details

• Night shift, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (10:00 PM to 6:30 AM)
• Every other weekend coverage required

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED)
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience as a Sterile Processing Technician
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) or certification from IAHCSMM or HSPA

Licensure

• Must hold the appropriate sterile processing certifications as listed above

Background and Screening Requirements

• 7-year background check including SSN trace with all aliases, county searches, nationwide sex offender search, education verification, and motor vehicle report if applicable
• FACIS Level 3 screening required within 2 weeks of start and monthly thereafter (or equivalent checks if FACIS III cannot be run)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required and updated annually
• TB screening questionnaire within 90 days of start, renewed annually
• Drug screening: Negative 9-panel drug screen within 6 months of start (excluding marijuana/cannabinoids due to California law)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, renewed annually (with accommodations considered for religious exemptions or failed tests)
• Immunizations and/or titers required: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap, Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and seasonal flu vaccination during flu season
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 90 days of start, renewed annually
• Color blindness exam if applicable (in-person exam required)
• Respiratory safety clearance prior to start, renewed annually

Competency and Certification Requirements

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Unit-specific skills checklist, renewed annually
• Additional certifications may be required depending on position specifics (verify with recruiter)

Documentation and Compliance

• Must provide full 7 years of work history with no gaps, including city and state of employment
• Two professional references required within 3 years for clinical/allied/per diem acute care roles
• Must review and sign facility-specific documents including standards of business conduct, code of conduct, vendor training, and regulatory orientation prior to start
• Completion of conditional offer of employment attestation prior to start
• Religious accommodation forms required for exemptions related to facial hair or vaccines

Additional Notes

• Candidates may complete Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) training onsite during orientation week if not completed prior
• ICU and MS/Telemetry RNs at certain locations may be required to take EKG competency testing onsite after start (not applicable here but noted for awareness)
• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this role
