Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – PCU

Location: Anniston, Alabama
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

• Work every other week (EOW) with floating to MedSurg units as needed
• Patient ratio approximately 1:5
• Work settings include MedSurg/Telemetry, Telemetry, and PCU/Stepdown units
• Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills required
• Must be able to start IVs, manage Heparin protocols, and cardiac drips (no titration)
• Accepts first-time travel nurses
• Local radius for travel: 60 miles

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Alabama
• Minimum of 1 year of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience within the last year
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• ACLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• PALS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Knowledge of Heparin protocols
• Ability to manage cardiac drips without titration
• Strong cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills
• MedSurg experience
• Telemetry experience

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Social Security Number (full number required for access initiation)
• Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked in last 7 years, including:

  • Social Security Trace
  • State and Nationwide Criminal Checks
  • National Sex Offender Registry
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks (all aliases must be run)
• Official transcript, diploma, or third-party education verification
• Primary source verification of state license and NURSYS verification
• Physical exam within 12 months of start date
• Fit mask test within 12 months of start date (annual renewal not required by client)
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tdap vaccination or declination within 10 years
  • Negative TB test (Qgold, Tspot, or PPD) within past 12 months; follow-up chest x-ray if positive
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer; booster if low/equivocal titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
  • Varicella: 2 vaccines, history of chickenpox, or positive titer; boosters if low/equivocal titer
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or declination (required year-round; mask required if declined)
• Drug screen: 10-panel within 30 days of start (rapid screen acceptable)
• Skills checklist annually (clinical only)
• Competency exams as applicable to specialty

Additional Notes

• Candidates must review and sign the traveler attendance policy prior to start
• No titration of cardiac drips allowed
• Emergency situations may allow onsite fit testing with facility approval
• This position floats between PCU and MedSurg/Telemetry units as needed
