Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Contract Length: Approximately 26 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a Level 3 Perinatal center with approximately 150 births per month.
- Care for childbearing women and newborns across antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn stages.
- Unit includes 2 operating rooms for C-sections, BTLs, and postpartum D&Cs.
- Team includes a second Labor & Delivery RN dedicated to well, non-compromised babies.
- Patient population is predominantly complex high-risk (about 70%).
- Floating within the hospital is required; floating to sister hospitals is not.
- Weekend work is required.
- Block scheduling accommodations are not available.
- Locals are accepted.
- Call is not required.
- Staffing ratio is 1:1.
- Guaranteed hours policy: Providers may be called off or placed on-call in 4-hour increments up to one shift within a 2-week cycle during low census.
- Facility uses EPIC for charting.
- Scrubs provided for OR personnel; any scrub color allowed.
- Parking cost is approximately $10.26 daily.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington State (pending licenses not accepted).
- Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year.
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender search, and Washington WATCH search.
- Education verification or diploma/transcript required.
- Physical exam (signed by a physician within 1 year of start).
- 10-panel drug screen (required by agency, not facility).
- Fit mask test within 9-12 months of start; PAPR testing available onsite if needed.
- Immunizations and titers required or declinations with documentation for:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series completion or positive titer or signed waiver)
- Varicella (titer or 2 vaccines; history of disease not accepted)
- Influenza seasonal vaccination or approved exemption/declination
- COVID vaccination or declination (for tracking purposes)
- Suicide prevention training and demographic attestation required for nurses using a multi-state license from outside Washington.
- EPIC/Alaris integration video and attestation required prior to start.
- Photo for badge (DMV style, no selfies) due before start.
- Completion of Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Training with certificate submission.
- Department checklist and PCIS agreement must be signed prior to start.
- WA License complaint clearance required for those using a WA State license.
Additional Notes
- The facility is a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with 637 staffed beds.
- Performance evaluations may be requested at the end of the assignment.
- Radiation badges are not provided for new candidates.
- Return-to-work restrictions limit time off to 1 week maximum.
- The facility does not schedule travelers or meet minimums during weekends and holidays for ambulatory or surgical services that are closed.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity, specialized Labor and Delivery unit with a supportive team and advanced resources in a major metropolitan hospital setting.
