Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Greenwich, Connecticut
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Schedule: Day shift, 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts (11:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
  • Call: 1-2 times per week from 7:30 PM to 11:00 PM
  • Weekends and holidays required as needed
  • Facility size: 186 beds
  • Magnet and teaching hospital status
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Scrubs provided
  • Free parking available in any unrestricted space

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
  • Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Orientation

  • RN orientation every other Monday at this campus
  • Next orientation dates available: July 13 or July 27

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Valid photo ID matching legal name required on first day
  • 7-year criminal background check within 12 months prior to start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Foreign equivalency education evaluation and diploma required for internationally educated candidates
  • Verification of highest level of education required
  • Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps over 90 days
  • Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
  • Skills checklist required within 12 months prior to start
  • Attestation of prior radiation exposure required if applicable to certain units (not typically OR)

Certifications and Competencies

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (minimum 85% score) required within 12 months prior to start
  • Color Blind Testing required for all candidates starting on or after 8/2/2024 (minimum 80% score)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required for certain units (not required for OR)
  • NIH Stroke Certification generally required for RNs except OR and certain other specialties
  • Additional unit-specific certifications may apply (check with recruiter)

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start, updated annually; must be clean shaven for fit testing
  • Tuberculosis screening: Negative T-Spot or QGold within 6 months, or 2 PPDs within 12 months
  • TB questionnaire updated annually
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (or declination within 1 year)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination highly preferred for pediatric specialties, labor/delivery, postpartum (not required)
  • 10-panel drug screen within 12 months prior to start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 – 3/31)
  • COVID vaccination series preferred but not required
