- Contract Length: 16 weeks
- Start Date: June 22, 2026
- Shift: Rotating schedule
- 3 consecutive 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- 3 consecutive 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Hours per week: 36
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Required as scheduled
- Floating: Required within specialty and to lower acuity units as needed
- On-call: May be required (to be confirmed)
Unit and Patient Population
- Unit: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU/CVICU)
- Patient Age Group: Adults and Geriatrics
- Unit Size: 15 beds, average daily census ~10 patients
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:1, up to 1:3 with stable, lower acuity patients
Clinical Responsibilities and Procedures
- Common Diagnoses: Cardiogenic shock, cardiac arrest, heart failure, cardiac arrhythmias (including heart blocks), myocardial infarction, pulmonary hypertension, advanced therapy workups (LVAD, heart transplants), mechanical support devices (IABP, Impella), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, hypertensive urgency/emergency
- Procedures: Bedside central and arterial line insertions, bronchoscopy, chest tube insertion, Swan-Ganz/PA catheter insertion, targeted temperature management, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT)
- Equipment: Impella, ventricular assist devices (VAD), intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP), CRRT machines, ventilators, cooling devices, continuous cardiac output (CCO) monitors
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maryland
- Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience, with CVICU experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
