Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical) - Contract

Location

• Central City, Nebraska

Employment Type

• Contract Clinician
• 12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week
• Every 3rd weekend required
• No call shifts
• Usual staffing: 2 RNs and 1 tech; never work alone

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Unit Details

• Medical Surgical unit with 6 inpatient beds and 6 universal beds
• Average daily census: 5 patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 4:1
• Candidates must be qualified and willing to float to the Emergency Room (ER)
• Charge nurse experience required

Required Qualifications

• Active, good standing RN license in Nebraska or compact state
• Graduation from an accredited professional nursing program required; BSN preferred
• Minimum 1 year Medical Surgical nursing experience (including Med Surg Skills Checklist)
• Minimum 1 year ER nursing experience (including ER Skills Checklist)
• Current BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Current ACLS certification (AHA)
• Current TNCC certification
• EPIC EMR experience within the past year

• Knowledge of nursing process and ability to integrate into patient care
• Ability to provide consistent nursing care to enhance clinical outcomes
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to problem solve and use critical thinking independently
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to hospital policies and procedures
• Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel and medical staff
• Knowledge of equipment used in the unit including Pyxis, EPIC EMR, BD Alaris pumps

Orientation and Training

• Orientation with another RN; length depends on comfort level
• Required EPIC training provided

Additional Information

• Dress code: solid colored scrubs
• Candidate should live within 50 miles of the location
• Candidate must be a 1099 contractor
• Must disclose any required time off during assignment in advance
