Respiratory Therapist Travel Assignment

Location: Council Bluffs, Iowa
Shift: Evenings
Hours: 12 hours per day, 36 hours per week (rotating weekdays with two weekend shifts per month)

Job Description

• Work in a travel-friendly facility with a variety of patient populations including adults, pediatrics, and neonates.
• Patient cases include STEMI, CVA, COVID, EKOS, cardiac arrest, and IABP.
• Work settings include inpatient and outpatient areas such as ER, floors, pediatrics, Labor & Delivery, nursery, ICU, Sleep Lab, OR, and PACU.
• Perform respiratory treatments averaging 30-40 per day.
• Responsibilities include drawing arterial blood gases (ABGs) and occasionally performing EKGs.
• Assist with intubations (not required to intubate independently).
• No floating to sister campuses.
• Typically no call required; if on call, response time is 30 minutes.
• Dress code: wine burgundy scrubs.
• Equipment used includes Drager ventilators, A40, LTV, Avea in nursery, V-60, and vapotherms.
• 24/7 hospitalist or intensivist coverage available.
• Department orientation lasts 2 days.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Iowa
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Respiratory Therapist, with experience within the last year
• Certifications required: ACLS, BLS, PALS, and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Scheduling & Work Environment

• Supervisor available Monday through Friday.
• Shift scheduling requires flexibility to fill staffing gaps.
• Weekend work required every other weekend.
• Holiday shifts rotate with permanent staff.
