Job Description

Seeking an experienced Women's Services Interim Manager for a travel assignment. The role involves managing a high-risk patient population with diagnoses such as high BMI, hypertension, hemorrhage, and preeclampsia.

Work Schedule

  • Monday to Friday
  • Two shifts available: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM and 12:30 PM – 9:00 PM
  • 12-hour shifts, 40 hours per week
  • One Sunday per month required
  • Generally no holiday requirements
  • Leader on-call phone standby required

Unit Details

  • Labor & Delivery beds: 6 (can float to Postpartum for additional 5 rooms)
  • Postpartum beds: 11 plus 6 overflow beds for gynecology/pediatrics/maternal support
  • Triage beds: 3
  • Operating room suite for C-sections: 1
  • Approximately 65-70 births per month (775-800 per year)
  • Charge nurses and house supervisors present; charge nurses ideally do not take patient assignments
  • No Tele/Monitor techs; RNs read fetal monitoring strips alongside CNM and OB physicians
  • Philips fetal monitors with Cerner and Fetal-Link EFM systems
  • OB/CNM coverage 24/7 in-house; Neonatologist on-call 24/7
  • Anesthesia on-call 24/7
  • Respiratory therapy equipment available (vents, CPAP, BiPAP)
  • Nurse aids and OB tech/UC roles available on unit
  • RNs required to titrate drips (commonly insulin)
  • Floating from L&D to Mother-Baby/Postpartum required
  • Circulate and recover C-sections required
  • Business casual dress code

Required Certifications and Licenses

  • Active California RN license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • Advanced AWHONN certification including Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AFM)

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty

Orientation

  • Unit-specific orientation covering Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby/Pediatrics, and NICU
  • Orientation hours: 7 AM – 7 PM every other week for first float

This position is ideal for an experienced RN with leadership skills in Women's Services, comfortable managing a high-acuity patient population in a fast-paced hospital setting.
