OR RN Job Opportunity - Illinois (Freeport)

Position Details

• Specialty: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
• Location: Freeport, Illinois
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 9 or 10 hour shifts, rotating schedule to cover late discharges
• Schedule: Posted 4 weeks in advance for 6 weeks; no self-scheduling
• Call Requirements:

  • Approximately 1 weeknight call per week
  • 24-hour call Friday night
  • Weekend call every 5th weekend (Saturday/Sunday)
  • Holiday on-call coverage
  • Call response time: 20 minutes
• Floating: Not required
• Orientation: 1-2 weeks department-specific orientation with preceptor

Experience & Certifications

• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (AHA)
• Licensure: Illinois RN license required
• Experience:

  • Prefer seasoned traveler with well-rounded OR experience
  • Relevant OR experience: 2-5 years preferred (may consider less if strong candidate)
  • Cataracts experience preferred but not required
• Prior Travel Experience: Preferred (seasoned traveler), but not explicitly required

Work Environment

• Department: Operating Room (OR)
• Number of Suites: 4 plus 2 minor procedure rooms and OB C-section room
• Average Cases per Day: 15-20
• Common Cases: General surgery, orthopedic totals and minor cases, ENT, urology, gynecology, C-sections, podiatry
• Scrubbing: Not required for RNs but considered a plus
• EMR System: Meditech
• Scrubs: Provided

This position is ideal for an experienced OR RN looking for a structured schedule with a variety of surgical cases in a hospital setting.
