Travel RN Opportunity – Med Surg / Telemetry / PCU Float Pool

Location: Prescott, Arizona


Unit Details

  • Unit: Telemetry - Cardiac/Medical, 3rd Floor
  • Beds: 49
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • Nurse Aide Ratio: 1:10-15
  • Common Diagnoses: CHF, COVID, respiratory issues, GI, diabetes, telemetry patients, post cardiac catheterization, total joint replacement
  • Equipment Used: BiPAP, CPAP, breathing treatments
  • Drip Management: No RN titration required; Diltiazem/Cardizem drips given at set rates
  • Telemetry: RNs required to interpret and sign tele strips at least once per shift
  • Electronic Health Record: Cerner experience recommended (only one day of orientation)

Requirements

  • Licensure: Current state RN license required
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS required
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years recent Med Surg/Telemetry experience
    • At least 1 year PCU experience
    • Experience reading basic telemetry strips, including some CVA and TIA exposure
    • Experience with total joint replacement patients preferred
  • Testing: Must pass dysrhythmia exam with minimum 80% within two attempts prior to contract signing
  • Radius Rule: Must live within 50 miles and not have worked full-time, part-time, or PRN at any CommonSpirit facility (including CHI or Dignity) within the past year

Scheduling & Shifts

  • Shift Hours: 7 AM – 7 PM
  • Schedule: Posted 4 weeks in advance; self-scheduling allowed but finalized by manager
  • Weekend Requirement: 2 weekends per 4-week schedule
  • Holiday Requirement: Work 2 days and an evening or 2 evenings and a day during Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, and Thanksgiving
  • Call/Standby: None required
  • Floating: Yes, may float to East Campus and possibly PCU if qualified

Orientation & Dress Code

  • Orientation: 1 shift on unit
  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs

Contract Length

  • Duration: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
