PCU RN Night Shift - Omaha, Nebraska

Job Overview

• Position: Night PCU Registered Nurse (RN)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (1830-0700)
• Facility Size: 35 beds
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics with cardiac, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring needs

Requirements

• RN license with at least 2 years as an RN
• Minimum 1 year of unit-specific experience
• Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS required
• Must pass a 90% score on a pass/fail open book exam during orientation
• Valid driver’s license required (used to verify candidate is within 50-mile radius)
• Candidates cannot be currently employed full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and Dignity)

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5
• Nurse aide/patient care tech ratio: 1:10 or 2:20
• Charge nurse present on each shift (charge nurse does not take patient assignment)
• RNs are required to titrate drips such as Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications
• Floating may be required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab units

Scheduling

• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: Every third holiday
• No call or standby requirement

Orientation

• First week: Onboarding
• Followed by 1-2 days of unit-specific orientation

Additional Information

• Fingernail policy: Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
• This is a fast-paced unit; successful nurses typically have a positive attitude, strong communication skills, critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a willingness to help others
• Return to Office (RTO) required within 7 days of contract start; no additional RTO extensions will be approved
