Job Opportunity: OR Registered Nurse (RN)

Contract Length
- 13 weeks
Work Schedule
- 12-hour shifts, typically 9 AM to 9 PM
- Rare overnight shifts; may be required if night call team is on vacation or sick
- Call requirements:
- Weeknight call: Typically 4 hours after scheduled shift, occasionally up to 12 hours
- Weekend call: 12-hour in-house day shift, approximately once per month
- Holiday call: 12-hour in-house day shift, approximately once per month
- Call response time: 30 minutes
- 4x10 hour day shifts with call expectation also mentioned
Unit/Department Details
- Department: Operating Room (OR)
- Unit: Surgical Services, 17 OR suites
- Average cases per day: 65
- Common cases include:
- Pediatric (all specialties and trauma)
- Adult general surgery
- DaVinci robotic surgeries
- Neuro-spine and cranial surgeries
- Pediatric scoliosis
- Orthopedics (total joints, trauma, sports medicine)
- Urology (complex cases including kidney and prostate)
- Oncology cases
- ENT, GYN (including c-sections for accreta)
- Bariatrics (robotic or laparoscopic Roux-en-Y, sleeves, gastric bypass)
Orientation
- Approximately 1 week of general and unit-specific orientation
Floating
- Rarely required
- Possible float to nearby surgery centers or other local hospitals
- May float to Cardiovascular OR (CVOR) if experienced with robotic thoracic cases
Dress Code
- Hospital provides grey scrubs
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of OR nursing experience
- Preferably 1-2 prior travel assignments (prior travel experience preferred but not explicitly required)
- BLS Certification required
Additional Information
- Scrubbing is not required for RNs in this role
- Charge nurse available 24/7 on each shift
- OR techs present on unit
- EMR system: EPIC
- Facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule for candidates’ permanent address
