Job Overview

Seeking a Med Surg/Telemetry Registered Nurse for a regional hospital in Arizona’s White Mountains. This role focuses heavily on telemetry care within a 24-bed Med Surg unit. The position involves adult patients only; pediatric patients are assigned to permanent staff.

Key Details

• Unit Type: Med Surg with Telemetry capability on all beds
• Patient Population: Adults (no pediatric assignments for travelers)
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:

  • Day shift: 1:5
  • Night shift: 1:6
• Float assignments include all Med Surg units and ICU (Med Surg overflow patients)
• Support Staff: Telemetry techs, charge nurse, HUCs, PCTs
• Hospitalist coverage 24/7
• Respiratory Therapist and Pharmacy available 24/7
• No IV team on unit
• EMR system: Sunrise Allscripts
• Shift Length: 12 hours (day shifts start at 6 am)
• Scrub color: Any color except all black; scrubs not provided

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 2 years of Med Surg nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications required:

  • ACLS issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• Strong neuro skills

Additional Information

• 36-hour work guarantee with up to 3 cancellations allowed
• Nurse managers do not provide direct patient care but perform rounds
